DOK CR15 Power Station Review

When my bedside cord clutter got out of control, I knew I needed to find a solution. The DOK CR15 is a small power station with a speaker and USB ports for charging up to three devices at the same time. This charging station serves my needs quite well, has reduced my bedside cord clutter, and does not occupy a lot of space on my crowded bedside table. See the rest →

A Smart Phone Decision: iPhone on Page Plus Cellular

This is a continuation of my dumbphone chronicles which began with my article on why (as a geek) I still have a dumb phone and continued in a dumbphone dilemma. In my last post, I concluded that I was ruling out the iPhone on Page Plus due to the risk and the cost. Well, all that has changed and I am now using an iPhone 4s on Page Plus Cellular and I am thrilled with it! This post will explain the thought process that led me to this decision and tell you how I made it happen. See the rest →

A Dumbphone Dilemma

Yesterday's announcement of the iPhone 5 got me thinking again about how to get an iPhone on a prepaid, pay-as-you-go cell phone plan on the Verizon network. Not because I lust for an iPhone 5, but because I knew its release would be bringing older models of iPhones (4 and 4s) to market, which I thought could work with a bring-your-own-phone plan--if one existed. So I started researching, and I found out about Page Plus Cellular, which presents some interesting options. See the rest →

Squeezebox is Dead. Long Live Squeezebox.

Not even a month after I wrote about my journey to musical bliss and my beloved Squeezebox system, I received news that the idiots in charge at Logitech have pulled the plug on the Squeezebox, discontinuing the entire product line. On the evening of Tuesday, August 28, I was browsing my Twitter feed and saw an announcement from @LogitechUE about “something big” to come the following day (Logitech UE is the brand resulting from Logitech’s acquisition of Ultimate Ears). Being the optimist I am, I was hopeful that this would be something to breathe new life into the Squeezebox product line. Boy, was I ever disappointed on Wednesday morning... See the rest →

Review of Eye-Fi Pro X2 WiFi Camera Card

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I had purchased an Eye-Fi Pro X2 WiFi SD card for my camera. When I saw refurbished Eye-Fi cards being offered on for about half price of MSRP, I had to go for it. In this article I will discuss my experience with the Eye-Fi card, setting it up to work with Windows Home Server and an iPad, and some of the limitations and features of the device. What is Eye-Fi? The Eye-Fi card is a SD card with built-in WiFi so you can wirelessly transfer pictures... See the rest →

Video: Eye-Fi Pro X2 8GB SD Card

So, here you are… my first video blog! I don’t know if I’ll be doing more of these, but if I do I promise to put some make-up on in addition to styling my hair! Eye-Fi Pro X2 8GB SD Card In this video, I show you my latest gadget, the Eye-Fi Pro X2 8GB SD Card with WiFi. I have always wanted one of these, but could never bring myself to pay close to a hundred bucks for one. Last weekend, I caught a “last call” deal on a Woot sale where they were offering refurbished units at about half the price of what I’ve seen them for new, so I jumped on it and got one for me... Sue finally achieves musical bliss.

My Journey to Musical Bliss

When I was a little girl, I dreamed of being able to play my entire music collection in a random manner. I envisioned a radio station that only played the music I like, but without the constant repetition and yammering DJs. It took a while getting there, but thanks to the Logitech Squeezebox system, I have now achieved musical bliss. See the rest →
