My Post-About Life
It’s been a long time since I posted anything here and I just thought I would let you know what I’ve been up to. Since my departure from About.com I’ve been laying the groundwork for some new income sources. One of those being Zazzle. I had been burned out on writing about graphics software for some time. Don’t get me wrong… I loved the helping people to learn part of it, but keeping up with all the changes and new versions of software was always a source of frustration. So I knew I wanted to get away from that for a while and get back to the designing and creating things that led me to my love of graphics software in the first place. Enter Zazzle.
Zazzle Designer
I discovered Zazzle while researching passive income ideas. I can’t say it is all that passive at this point, but I am really enjoying it. If you are not familiar with it, Zazzle is the top print-on-demand marketplace for personalized and customized products. There are many other print-on-demand online services, but from my research, Zazzle seemed like a good one to start out with. I joined as a designer there on July 25, and as of today I have four stores with more than 2,000 products and my sales are slowly building up!

I started with a store for my Dad’s watercolor and acrylic paintings. This was a great way to learn the ropes of Zazzle and it has been exciting to get my Dad’s fantastic art work seen by people all over the world. It’s also wonderful to have such a large source of fantastic images to design around. You can find my Dad’s art at JCPridaArt on Zazzle, and you can follow his Facebook page for updates.

New Web Site: SuziQCreations
In between building up my Zazzle shops, I have also been establishing a brand new website which I officially launched at the end of October. SuziQCreations is my site for creative content, digital downloads, art and gifts. It will be the new home for most of the downloadable graphics and presets I previously had posted on About.com.
Creating premium content and making a nicer presentation for these pages is slow going, but it is off to a pretty good start. Alongside that, I am using the SuziQCreations site to highlight my product designs from Zazzle.

In addition, SuziQCreations hosts my Pick-A-Pattern shop where you can choose a seamless pattern image from our pattern collections and click a link to see that pattern on several product from Zazzle. Right now we only have three collections up, but that will grow. It’s pretty nifty–you can try it here: Pick-A-Pattern Shop
I love creating seamless patterns, and the Zazzle shops help feed that addiction.
Bible Verse Shareable Graphics
Another side project I have going is the graphic design for a series of devotional images for my sister who maintains the Christianity topic site on About.com. She has a verse of the day series which we are illustrating with “shareable” photo-text graphics. These images are also going into my DevotionArt Zazzle shop over time.
So, as you can see, I have been keeping busy! Oh, and I have not completely given up writing tutorials. I’ve already posted a couple on SuziQCreations.com. I hope to have a couple of new stylus reviews for you soon, so stay tuned!
